NUMBER 7 : APRIL-JUNE 2017
21st century reform begins in MN: Long, difficult road ahead for freedom fighters.
Minnesota legislators in 2017 introduced bills at the state capitol to legalize personal use of cannabis. In the House of Representatives two bills, HF 926 and HF 927 were introduced. A companion bill to HF 927 was introduced in the state senate by Senator Jeff Hayden, SF 1320.
This is the very first step, of many steps that must be taken, in a long and complicated legislative process before legalization can be achieved. HF 926, which has attracted fourteen legislative sponsors at the state house, would give the people of Minnesota an opportunity to vote for cannabis in 2018. But Republicans have so far refused to hold a hearing for the bill.
Meanwhile the administration in Washington, DC, is heading the nation into a tailspin.
And, across the country, state governments are subverting the will of voters in those states who passed medical and personal cannabis legalization laws, by adding restrictions.
