NUMBER 2 *SPECIAL ELECTION '16*
Vote Legal Marijuana Now on February 9, Anoka-area (District 35) Special Election: Minnesota Senate.
Roger Johnson (DFL) will challenge one of two Republicans and Legal Marijuana Now Candidate Zachary Phelps. Minnesota Secretary of State, Steve Simon, certified the campaign to appear on February 9, 2016, special election ballots in State Senate District 35 (cities of Anoka and Ramsey, plus most of Andover and part of Coon Rapids).
While DFL and GOP candidates filed for office by paying a fee, Mr. Phelps' grassroots team of volunteers gathered close to 1,000 signatures during the 1-week petitioning period for third parties.
After he's elected on February 9, Mr. Phelps will serve the remainder of the term of resigning GOP senator Branden Peterson (Andover). Senator Peterson was the marijuana legalization movement's number one ally at the Minnesota Capitol, during his term. And Mr. Phelps has pledged to make cannabis law reform his top priority, while in office.
